"Miss Neil wants Tee and Dee to hand in their history assignment and soon!!!! But what’s so important about black history anyway? After all they don’t have a white history month?"
In October 2005 young FAITH members went to a predominantly White Children’s home in Chelmsford for Black history month. They spent a month prior researching and studying positive aspects of black history and then devised a short play based on these findings. The day was spent performing the play for children in care with behavioural and emotional difficulties followed by a series of workshops that involved young faith members sharing their newly acquired knowledge with others. This was a great way for the children in care to learn about black people in a positive light whilst giving the FAITH team both responsibility and the opportunity to use drama skills as a forum for change.
